Hey family! How is everything going? Still sounds same old same old at home. It sounds like you are all doing good. It sounds like Hillary is raising a farm. No more Carls Jr.! what happened? Its ok, because there is one pretty close to our apartment and we probably go there once every three weeks or so. Dad is changing his whole golf swing. I am pretty sure that is tough. I wish I could go play golf whenever I wanted. I am sure I could out here on pdays but I dont have the clubs or the money to do it haha. I laughed really hard hearing that Sydney looked like an old lady with makeup on. I bet people at this library were looking at me weird. Anyways, I am glad everything is going well.
Well, I am still here in my first area for another transfer. Basically no one moved in the whole mission. Only the necessary changes happened and everyone just stayed put. So I am going on 4 transfers in my first area. I am pretty sure I will be here until Elder Gerratt goes to Mexico. He thinks his visa will come in the next two weeks. Who knows? I could see him staying here the whole transfer. I don’t mind staying here at all. I love the ward and the people. Speaking spanish is finally becoming fun. I like trying to talk to people. Sometimes I just don’t understand but most of the time I understand well. It will always be a work in progress. I know I could survive speaking spanish in Mexico real easily. So yes, its better but could be a lot better. Well to answer your question mom, yes we tract. Tracting is the main thing we do lately. We are just in the middle of building our teaching pool. Its kind of frustrating because I know the area so well and a lot of the main spanish area has been tracted so its a struggle trying to find people. Elder Gerratt is not loving it. hahaha. It makes me laugh. He isn’t a big fan of tracting but it is good practice for him. He will need to do it in Mexico I am sure, and not only that, everyone in Mexico speaks only spanish. Here a lot of people speak both. So he has it nice and easy. Tracting is not my favorite thing to do but we have studied out the area book and we have worked through the members. There isn’t many other options in finding people. haha so we tract. Its fun. We meet a lot of funny people everyday and come back to the apartment telling funny stories. Thats the best part about having 4 in an apartment. Other than that, its kind of a drag. All the food gets devoured before you blink your eyes. The bathroom is always being used. The apartment is just cluttered with everyone’s stuff. Mom, I am so thankful you taught me how to clean. As much as I hated doing the dishes at home, I couldn’t feel happier doing them here. Haha. I am the only one that does it. I guess having your own apartment helps you take ownership of your own home. I keep it nice and clean and can’t stand it if it isn’t. I also put everyone’s cereal box away too. haha. I have even found empty boxes in the cupboards that haven’t been thrown away. I know how you feel now mom. Thanks for making me clean my room and do the dishes. It has taught me a lot out here. haha.
So, now for people we are teaching. As much as tracting is not that fun, we still find people that have good potential. We tracted into a 71 year old lady a week and a half ago from Peru that I think I told you about. Well, she came to church again so that is a good sign. Her name is Cristina. She still has doubts about the whole Restoration but we know that she will recieve an answer to her prayers. She is putting in the effort so she will get her answer and we have told her that many times. She is a pretty up to date 71 year old lady as well. She has to look good for church and everything. She has come like 15 minutes late both times. So, we will work on that. Other than that she is doing quite well.
We met another person tracting and her name is Alicia. She is from El Salvador. She is awesome from what we have seen so far. We met her and set up an appointment but than she canceled so we were like dang. But than she wanted us to come by on Saturday again to reschedule so we said yes thinking she would cancel again. So, we set the appointment for 4 oclock and we found ourselves teaching someone still at 4. All of a sudden my cell phone kept vibrating and vibrating. She called three times at the end of our lesson wondering where we were. So, we sprinted on bike to her house and had one of the most spirttual lessons of my life. It went really well. She brought a friend and they were both tearing up at the end of the lesson. It went really well. She couldn’t come to church on Sunday because she had made plans already with her son or something but nonetheless she looks very promising. So, we are very excited for that.
With our other investigators, Jesus and Elisa supposively can’t get married until December or January. So that was a bummer. But they are still on fire with their testimonies. They are still coming to church. Jesus has born the most powerful testimony about the church. He knows its true. Elisa does as well. They are doing all that they can in following the commandments. He has quit just about everything in the Word of Wisdom and is working on the Law of Chastity. They are still doing good. Angel and Ana didnt come to church agian. They made up some lame excuse all over again. We are still pushing with them. Other than that we do not have any promising people. Everyone else is dropped for a period of time.
Well, the mission life is still treating me well. I forgot to tell you last week but I am about 200 pounds now. I don’t know how I am gaining weight. I am still riding like 15 to 20 miles a day. It is crazy. So, I am working out a little harder in the mornings so I can stop gaining weight. Other than that everything is going well. My testimony is still growing and growing every day. Seeing many miracles. I am learning a lot from training as well. It is the exact opposite from being trained. Its hard. Really fun but really hard. I love you family and I will write next Monday.
Love,
Elder Kevin Jones
