Hey family! How are things going this week. This week has seemed really long this week I don’t know why. Only two days were added. I just got back from going to the temple. It was awesome. The LA temple is probably the most beautiful inside that I have ever been in. It is awesome. The rooms are huge and pretty and quiet. The spirit really is there every time and I love going there. Too bad its only once every two transfers that I get to go. Oh well, I am lucky to even go to a temple while on my mission. It sounds like Thanksgiving is going to be kicked into gear at the cultural hall at the house. Sounds like the same exact crowd as every other year. Thats good. I hope it will be fun. Yes mom I will probably be fed on Thanksgiving. Transfers are next Wednesday and Thanksgiving is the day after. So if I stay then I will be eating with the Vinh family. We still go over there for dinner about once a week. They want us to come to dinner with them so we are going to probably eat over there. If I get transfered then I am not sure who I will be eating with. Who knows? I don’t need anything for Christmas really. All my shirts are still white. I take real good care of them. Probably if I wanted anything for Christmas I would want a pretty dang cool looking tie…. Also, Carnation is a way good treat. I have enjoyed the Carnation that you have given me. Other than that mom, I have no clue. You know me. I don’t need anything really. Well sounds like the kids are doing good still. It seems like they are huge by the sound of the letters that I am getting. When I left, Nixon nor Stella could walk and they didn’t say anything. Now they run and talk like crazy. It will be wierd seeing them in another year and a half. How big is the house that Hillary and Mitchell are moving into? Hillary is coming back to the house. Awesome. She can stay in the room upstairs. My room is taken. haha I am just kidding. Well I am grateful for the letter. I am sorry about Grandma’s side of the family. It doesn’t sound like Aunt Barbara is doing to well. I will pray for her and her family.
So the big news…. Vicente and Virginia Guerrero were baptized on Sunday!!! It was awesome. Elder McRae baptized Virginia and I baptized Vicente. They chose. It was so good. The service was way spiritual. Elder McRae told me about the reaction that Virginia had after she came up from under the water. She gasped for air really loud and then just had the biggest smile ever. When I heard that it made me feel so good. Two more people that have joined the fold. I baptized Vicente and it went well. He came out of the water and had a bloody nose. It was so weird. He told me it was probably from the pressure under the water. No one saw but Elder McRae and I in the bathroom and there was no blood in the font so it wasn’t that bad. Anyways, they have been baptized and it is seriously the happiest feeling you could ever feel when you see someone get baptized. They are awesome and they will be active for life. They are so solid in the Gospel. Anyways that was the biggest news of the week, in fact the biggest news of the last couple transfers. We are seeing lots of success since the visa waiters came in. It has been going really well.
Grace was scheduled to get baptized this Sunday but she continues to be impossible. We are delaying it another week so that she can see an actual baptism this Sunday. She says she is afraid of going under water but we kind of think that she is making up this fear to delay her baptism. We aren’t exactly sure if she really is afraid to go under water but she won’t have any excuse to not be baptized after this Sunday. She just kind of has the teenager mentality and attitude just trying to make things impossible. She knows the church is true and she has felt the spirit. She is just being really stubborn and impossible. But I have faith that she is going to be baptized….. Jesus and Elisa are still doing really good. We gave them a triple combination that is giant that they are using now in church. It is hilarious seeing him bringing that around in church. Other than that they are still doing good and nothing new really has happened with them.
Margarita and Alicia didn’t go to church this past Sunday. Their excuses were lame and we haven’t been able to contact them since Sunday. I hope they are doing good still. Margarita if you don’t remember has a baptismal date the 5th of December (Yes your wedding anniversary Hillary and Mitchell.) So we are hoping that everything is fine and that we can teach her. Another thing that could be distracting is that her 21 year old daughter is having a baby sometime this week and we think that could prevent us from coming over there and teaching her. We hope not. She has huge potential and will get baptized. Alicia still has her marriage problem with her significant other that she lives with. So we have kind of moved back to teaching her once a week. Alicia and Margarita are best friends. We had only 1 person that came to church. That was Virginia. Vicente had to work just this one Sunday. No one else showed up and they all had their excuses. Sometimes it is difficult to get someone to church.
This past Monday I went on splits with one of the Zone Leaders. Elder Amundsen (yes similar if not the same spelling as Lou Amundsen that plays for the Suns, they aren’t related either) is the zone leader I went on splits with in my area. I love Elder Amundsen. He is an awesome missionary and a funny guy. It was a good day of splits. Usually I am not a big fan of splits but this time it was good. He basically has never been in a bike area his whole mission and he got to experience that with me. We had an awesome lesson with a referral that we contacted. On Saturday, a member from Georgia gave me a call and referred his sister. We went over there and the member, Jose Vasquez, and his sister and her husband and their daughter were there. This Jose Vasquez has been a member for 4 years and is just on fire. He has such a strong testimony of the church. Anyways, he was probably the best member present lesson that I have been a part of. He basically taught the lesson but it was so good. Right now he is living with his sister so he can work here in California. The lesson was so spiritual and it ended off well. We obtained three new investigators and hopefully they turn out to be something good. I could totally see the Lord’s hand putting them into our hands. It was a huge miracle. Anyways that was a really good experience this week.
They split the ward up. Everyone that lived north of Roscrans got put into the Inglewood 2nd ward. So the ward should be smaller this week. The new bishop is awesome. He will do a great job.
Well other than that, this is my week. I will be writing on Monday so hopefully some cool stuff happens that I can write to you about. I love you and will talk to you later. Oh, and thats the first I heard about the Suns. YES!
Love,
Elder Kevin Jones
