Hello mother and family! That letter sounded a little scary. I hope dad will be ok. His heart is perfect though so thats good. Its a good thing that he runs everyday. I think thats a big reason for his heart being so healthy. I will pray for him. I hope nothing goes wrong…. His thunderbird looks so sick! I want to drive that thing. I bet its difficult for tall people to get in and out of his car. That car is a pretty car. Elder Tanner is a big fan of it as well. I loved the pictures of the kids. Easter sounded pretty fun in the cultural hall of our home. That is great that Andreah is married. Good for her. I am glad the whole family is doing well. Happy Birthday to Nathan on the 30th. He is a the best brother. I love him and his family. They are awesome. Easter was good over here as well. We ate at a very nice home. The Bisks fed us and it was good. They fed us Lamb, Scalloped Potatoes, this really good salad, rolls, and these gourmet green beans and they fed us sponge cake and straweberrys for dessert. It was really good. There are many wealthy people in the ward that feed us all the time. We get fed just about every night and if we don’t get fed we usually go to in-n-out the best restaurant in the world. So no worries, we are fed every night here in San Pedro. The ward is great. Well, for the care package…. I am not sure what I need. Anything is good for me. I am doing fine with everything I have here…. Oh and to give you more of a visual of my area the north part of my area is 9th street and the west side is basically in the middle of the hill. There isn’t a road that is our boundary so its difficult to describe my western boundary. The rest of the boundaries are the ocean. Hopefully that helps you distinguish where I am at. If not I can explain on Mothers day.

Well today we had temple p-day. So sorry for not writing you on Monday. The temple was good. The Los Angeles temple is a really good temple. I love it and I am going to miss it. I cannot wait until the Gilbert temple to be finished so I can go in that one. I wish it was done. I love temple p-day. It starts off the rest of the week very well. It was very spiritual.

As for our investigators, we had 4 at church this week. They were Dominic, Emily (Katie’s daughter), Trinity Santaolaya, and our new investigator Teyman. Teyman is a cool kid. He is only 18 years old and he is black. I was on splits with another Elder and we tracted a little bit and we knocked on Teyman’s door. He was pretty funny. We asked him if he prayed a lot and he told us that he did and told us that he was praying that morning in the shower. He says that he just kind of talks and expects God to listen. He said that he asked him a question and he didn’t answer. He determined that God didn’t answer because he was naked. haha it was funny. Anyways, we set up a return appointment with him and I really lacked the faith that he was going to be there or even be interested but I was really wrong. We went over there and gave him a Book of Mormon and we talked about Alma 32 and faith for about 15 to 20 minutes. Surprisingly he caught on and was interested. We invited him to church the next day and he told us he would come. I still lacked the faith that he would come but I told him that I would call him on Sunday morning to remind him about church at 11:00am. So the next day on Sunday, I called him at about 10:00 am and he told me that he was getting dressed and was about ready to go and that he would be taking the bus to church. So I thought to myself, Sweet! and was excited. He showed up 10 minutes early ready to roll with his Book of Mormon in hand. He loved church and we set another return appointment for yesterday. We went by yesterday to teach him and he now is preparing to be baptized on the 29th of May. It is awesome. He has surprised me a ton. It goes to show that you should never judge anybody no matter what they say or how they act like. God taught me a serious lesson. I hope that I will learn for the future people that I meet that I should expect them to follow all commitments. It was good with him.

Katie and Emily are not progressing. We can’t get a hold of Katie. She is impossible. Somehow her daughter makes it to church but she didn’t. We don’t know what happened with her. She was so solid and ready for the gospel. We are hoping that she will call us back pretty soon. They came to the ward activity on Saturday but didn’t come to church. We think she is having relationship problems with her boyfriend and she is trying to resolve that. We hope she calls. Emily is doing well but we aren’t sure that we will be able to baptize her. She comes to church every week but we haven’t taught her once. They were scheduled for the 5th of May but we are going to have to change that baptismal date. Anyways, we will keep praying for her.

Dominic came to church as well. He is tough to teach because he has been taught for the last 3 years or so and still hasn’t been baptized because he isn’t married to his girlfriend that he lives with who is a member of the church. Him and his girlfriend have a kid together and they still aren’t married. It doesn’t make any sense at all. He comes to church just about every week but won’t get married to her for some reason. We aren’t sure on that reason still.

Trinity could be baptized by mothers day because her less active mom is starting to come back to church so hopefully we will be seeing her get baptized here soon. She is a 9 year old girl that really wants to be baptized but hasn’t been able to because her mom didn’t come to church. Now that she is coming to church Trinity will be able to be baptized! We are excited.

Thats basically it for our investigators. We are hoping to find more and see other potentials come alive here this week. We are really looking forward to this week.

So today we had temple p-day, tomorrow we have fundamental trainings (those same trainings that we had about 6 months ago, we have continuously done those for the past 6 to 8 months, Friday Elder L. Tom Perry is coming to speak to our mission and the Arcadia mission, Saturday is Mormon helping hands, and on Sunday I recieved some awesome news. Do you remember Maria Maldonado from my first area? Well she got married and is being baptized this Sunday! I am so excited. Elder Romrell and I found her last July and taught her everything and then she disappeared and then Elder Gerratt and I taught her everything again and then we switched her to the english side of things. So now she is being baptized and I get to go to it. I am so excited.

Brian Price still didn’t get baptized…. I don’t know why but I heard that he got married to his fiancee and that he is pretty busy for the next couple weeks. Hopefully I will hear about that soon.

Well I love you family!!!! I hope you have a good week.

Love,
Elder Kevin Jones
