Hey family! How is everyone doing this week? Sounds like last week was pretty fun. I would love to go swimming on memorial day with the family. That sounds like lots of fun. I am jealous. It sounds like the kids had a good time watching a movie and having dinner. That is pretty awesome that our family can do that since we all live so close to each other. It sounds like you had a lot of fun watching the grandkids as well mom and dad. They sound super old now. I will be coming home to a different house then before with different kids there. haha. The bar-b-que sounded like fun as well. I cannot believe that Courtney is 14 and Chandler is 12. That is a lie. They are really that old? Dad will have fun at Moab without me. Especially if he brings glow sticks haha and if Brother Hakes goes as well. That was the best campout I ever went on. We had a good group of priests and teachers and good leaders and a lot of good activities. I would die to go there again. Dad will have fun. I am glad you went to a baseball game mom. How are the D-backs doing?… Lately I have been running into lots of people’s homes that have the Heat and Mavs game on. It is a tough distraction to avoid. I love basketball and when they put a game on I leave the room and reschedule or something to come back again. Dominic was watching it recorded last night the last 28 seconds so Elder Brady and I went in the hallway for that little bit of time and came back in when it was finished. We could still hear it haha. I hope the Heat lose…. Haley is a good girl to help Teal Reader with throwing up. That would be tough for me to do. I am glad she did so. How many people are going to the family reunion with Grandma Bazzill? That sounds like it will be fun.
Well this week went well. We are still waiting on progress of some of our investigators. Tony, Karen, and Arlene are doing good still. Tony was the only one that came to church yesterday. Karen took Arlene to go to church with her mom somewhere else. So that was a bummer. We visited them after church and Karen felt guilty. As for the birth certificate situation, it is still in progress. They are going to try to get a marriage license with the birth certificate that they have. Once they do that they can be baptized. So we are expecting them to get baptized any day of this month. Tony has been struggling with some problems but he will be able to work them out. This family needs baptism. It will bless them so much. Every aspect of their lives will change for the better. Karen is doing everything she can to get married with Tony so that she can be baptized as well. Before she was hesitant on baptism but her desire has changed a lot. Now we think she wants to be baptized because of her efforts on trying to get married. She has been praying and reading and she has been enjoying it and feeling better about herself. Anyways, they are still really solid. We want them to be baptized so bad so thanks for fasting for the work over here mom. That means a lot. We are fasting for the same reasons.
Dominc is the man. He is really coming along. It was difficult for us to contact him for a while. It was so frustrating because we didn’t understand why he kept rescheduling appointments. We found out that he got a job at a refinery again. He has been out of work for the last year and half and hasn’t been bringing in any income. Well he got a job and he now works from 6:30 to 4:30 weekdays. The perfect hours!!! He was excited about that and to tell us that he can go to church still. He also is planning on getting married in the next month or two. So after that he will be baptized. I hope I am still here for that. Dominic has been one of my favorite people to teach my whole mission. He is a good guy. He is tall and bald and he plays basketball. I wish you could meet him. He needs to be baptized. We are working with him on quitting on smoking. He is scared of failing at that so we hope to build his faith in the atonement so that he can quit.
We didn’t end up teaching Glenn and his wife yesterday. Glenn was caught up in Palm Springs still so there was no way that he could come back to have the appointment so we rescheduled for Thursday. I am still excited for that lesson to see how it goes. He has potential and your right mom we cannot judge people from the first visit with people. You never know when the Spirit could testify to them of the truthfulness of the Gospel.
Tomorrow we have another zone leader conference with President and Elder Brady and I are training at it for 20 minutes. Hopefully it goes well. The mission wide goal is going well. People are doing what they can to find one converted person to be baptized this month. It is tough. The mood of the mission is changing so that is going good. Other than that nothing else is really happening this week. Just the normal thing. I hope we find someone golden this week. We have been praying for that for a while. San Pedro needs to come alive. It will.
Well family I know the church is true. It has brought peace and comfort into my life and I know that it will bring peace and comfort into your lives as well if you continually search out the truthfulness in it. It will come to you. The Book of Mormon is true. Read it! That is where our whole religion is based from. Thomas S. Monson is a prophet today and I am so grateful that we have a prophet in these days to guide us and help us out to gain salvation with our Heavenly Father…. Thanks for sending a package mom. I am excited. Do not worry about sending packages. I don’t need anything really but I do appreciate it. Have a good week family and I love you!
Love,
Elder Kevin Jones
