Hey family! Yes! Heidi is pregnant! That is so exciting. You couldn’t wait 3 more weeks to get pregnant? Come ON!!! haha I am just kidding. I guess you will just have to wait for 3 weeks anyways. sorry. That is really exciting. I am happy for you Heidi and Paul. I hope you have a boy. You should name him Kevin after his favorite uncle. haha. Congratulations to Nikki as well. That is exciting. Hillary and Mitchell? Nathan and Lacy? haha just let me know. Happy fathers day dad! I sent you an email already. Happy birthday Haley! I cannot believe you are 16 and already have a date lined up. That is crazy! I am glad that you enjoyed your week at EFY. This has been such an eventful week for the family. I am happy for all of you. Thanks mom for helping me out in my pant situation. It is wierd how overnight they all of a sudden became tight and started ripping. The two pants should hold me off until the end of my mission. Thanks mom. You bought a new car? I am going to have to start looking for the Hyundai Tucson now. I don’t think I have ever seen one of those cars before. What are you doing with your infiniti? Are you keeping it?… There is two big fires going on? Wow, my companion is from Utah and he says that Utah is under water right now and its funny because Arizona is on fire right now. The weather has been crazy everywhere from what I am hearing over here…. Lately lots of people have been talking about mormon politicians running for president. Is that true? I heard Mit Romney is running and John Huntsman? Is that his name? That is pretty interesting. When we knock on doors all we hear from people is, “Have you read the magazine article on your Mormon politician?” We always teach off of their question. Its nice to hear a little bit of a buzz going on about the church in the world. I think its great to hear that we have politicians running for president that are Mormon… Thanks for the letter mom and dad. I have a question coming from a member in the ward named sister Kimball. She loves bazzill basics paper and wants to start ordering paper. She has a retail license and she is wondering if she can order wholesale? She loves our paper haha. Yesterday we made brownies for a lot of the families in the ward for fathers day and we took some over to her house and she showed me all of the swatch books she has from Bazzill. I told her there is a lot of family named colors and she was wondering if you could name a color after her. Her name is Marichelle. It is pronounced like “Mary shell.” Haha. Their family is one of my favorite families in the ward. Her husband is in the bishopric.
We have a new rule that if our letters are posted to the public that we cannot use anybody’s name that we are teaching. So when you post this letter up just change the names of the investigators that I am teaching. Anyways, this week has been a good one. We heard awesome news on Friday afternoon about Tim and his situation. He received a call from President that an immigration attorney can get him his ID, birth certificate, and get him registered here soon. So he can get married as soon as all that stuff comes in. It is awesome news. The only bad thing is that he drank again on Thursday. He is having a difficult time leaving it all behind. You can tell though that he wants to quit and that he feels guilty. Really guilty. He came to church yesterday. Yesterday was Stake Conference and it was really good. Elder Packer came and spoke. Elder Packer is an area authority here in California and he is an awesome speaker. He was really nice and he had all of us missionaries stand up and he said a lot of nice things about us missionaries in front of the whole stake. He was a mission president three years ago and he loves missionaries. He also said lots of nice things to the investigators that came to stake conference. Tim loved it and felt good afterwards. His family didn’t come by. Kassie, his girlfriend, is kind of losing interest a little lately. We just need to teach her the Restoration again. She will have a testimony. So they are doing pretty good….. Damon didn’t come to church and not a lot has happened with him this week. We had dinner with him about a week ago and that is the last time we have seen or heard from him. He is still there. He just needs to get married….. Rainy didn’t come to church. She still has a baptismal date for the 10th of July. We went by on Saturday by surprise and they were bar b qing and gave us dinner. The funny thing was is that her husband and friends started to drink while we were eating dinner. It was awkward but pretty funny. We are hoping that she moves along. We have faith. We are also teaching a black guy from Louisiana named Izzy. We set a baptismal date with him for the 17th of July. He is way cool. We are super excited. He seems so solid. He is 27 years old and he has lived in Pedro for 1 year. This week has been a pretty good week of teaching.
A crazy thing happened this week. We got a new Assistant to the President this week. Elder Gilbert! He was in my district three transfers ago and President called him up from a district leader. It was unusual but a good move. Elder Gilbert is like one of my best friends in the mission. He is a good missionary. We found out at the Mission Leadership Training that we had about a week ago. That was a good meeting as well.
Not much else has happened this week. Thank you so much family for the letters. Thank you Shreeve family for your packages every month. I hope everyone has a good week this week. I love you and talk you letter.
Love,
Elder Kevin Jones
