Hey family! How are things going this week? It sounds like your going to have fun in San Clemente on Friday. You are so lucky. I am going to miss out once again on the big family trip to California. No worries. I am on the coast right now but I just can’t go on it. It is really beautiful here. The coast is basically cliff sides so we do a lot of our paper work at a park next to the coast. It is awesome. The weather here is perfect as well. It isn’t hot and it isn’t cold. Its perfect. I have been blessed to be near the coast during the summer times of my mission. So I hope you all have fun at San Clemente without me. haha. I still cannot believe that Haley is driving with a license. That is crazy. I bet she is scared. I was a little nervous when I started driving but I think I was more excited than nervous. Especially with the gold truck. I miss that truck… Happy birthday again Haley. I wrote that in my journal by the way. Happy birthday Stella! Thanks for the reminder. I couldn’t remember the day in June that was her birthday. It sounds like it was a pretty eventful week. How is the car mom? I have been looking out for your car everywhere and I still haven’t seen it. It must be brand new or something. I cannot find it. I want to see it really bad. Hopefully dad can get his car soon. Although the Infiniti is a really nice car. I would drive it. I can see why he wouldn’t want to drive it. He has a Tbird waiting for him and the Infiniti kind of looks girly. That is one point docked off of your man card dad. sorry. haha. I am glad everything is going well at home in AZ. Sorry that its 115 over there. That is too bad. You are lucky that you are coming here to California just for that reason. I am praying for Aunt D and her family. Hopefully everything is resolved in the best way. I am jealous of all the family time that you are getting. I would love to be with you all.

So, this week went pretty well. I think I forgot to mention that it was transfers on Wednesday. haha. I think I didn’t say anything because I knew nothing was going to happen with me. I am still here and Elder Brady is still my companion. I will be killing him off at the end of this transfer. He goes home on August 3rd. After that, who knows what will happen. President has been making some crazy changes lately. I like it. It makes the logistics more interesting. There was a missionary who was called up to be a zone leader and he was only 5 transfers out and not even a district leader. So anything could happen. I will probably be here in San Pedro another transfer after this one at least. Who knows? I would like to train again in spanish. That is what I want to happen. We will see.

Other than transfers, the week did go well. We had 4 people at church; Tim, Kassie, Amy, and a new face Izzy. Again, don’t put these peoples names online because that is what the First Presidency wants… Tim, Kassie, and Amy are doing great. We went over to their house for dinner on Friday. It was so good. We had Carnitas, rice and beans. It felt like I was back in Gardena eating the latin food. They are doing a lot better. Tim is doing great with the commandments and Kassie is really coming along. We figured out what was holding her back. She is scared to change religion because of her religious background. Her dad and mom are christian and they always comment and ask why she goes to the mormon church. She is scared that she is going to lose family trust and relationships if she changes her religion. Its a tough doubt but I think she wants to be baptized. We are still waiting on hearing back from the lawyer from the mission to figure out the birth certificate stuff. It should be soon. They should be baptized in July hopefully. I am excited for them. They have been investigating the church for 9 or 10 months now. Tim loves it so much. He can’t wait to be baptized. I will keep you updated on how they are doing next week…… Izzy is a black guy from New Orleans, Louisianna. He is doing well. He has a baptismal date for the 17th of July. He lives alone and he is 27. Anyways, we taught him twice this week about the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and about the Book of Mormon. He believes that Joseph Smith could be a prophet but he has a hard time believing that the Book of Mormon could be the word of God. He was raised baptist so he is familiar with the Bible but this is the first time he has heard of the Book of Mormon and he has doubts. We read 3 Nephi 11 with him and he liked it. He came to church yesterday off of 0 sleep the night before. So he fell asleep during sacrament and sunday school but he stayed awake during priesthood. He was dead tired. It wasn’t because it was boring because it was really good service but it was because he was so tired from work and not sleeping the night before. It was funny. We are glad he came to church and he wants to come out next week so we will see how his progression goes this week. He is pretty cool. I wish the king of the blacks could come down to San Pedro to help us fellowship him. He would be perfect.

As for the other investigators. Damon was really busy this week so we didn’t see much of him. He didn’t come to church so he isn’t progressing at the moment. Rainy isn’t progressing either. We couldn’t visit her at all this week. She kept canceling our appointments. We are still looking for the elect. We are praying and being obedient and doing whatever we can to find more people to come unto Christ. I love missionary work. It has changed me a ton. I didn’t realize how big missionary work is in the church. It is everything basically. I am glad to be on the front line doing the Lord’s will. It is fun.

I don’t know if I have told you about the basketball court in my area. There is this place called the Korean Bell and there is this really sweet basketball court that we play at every morning. The court itself is really junky but the view is super cool. Its on a hill and we can see the ocean big time. It is pretty. So last week, Elder Brady and I took some pictures of us trying to dunk it. They look sweet! It looks like we are flying over the ocean and dunking it. I am too fat to dunk it now. haha. I am working on doing it again. I am trying to jump higher. haha. I will blame it on my shoes because they aren’t new. Remember you can jump higher and run faster with new shoes? haha.

Well family, the week went really well. I hope this week goes great as well. I hope all is going good at home and I thank my Heavenly Father every day for the family that I have. I love you and I will talk to you next week.

Love,
Elder Kevin Jones
