Hey family! Mom and dad I got your two emails off of your phones. No worries that they are short. I don’t need anything fancy. I am glad that you are all having a good time so far. It’s great to hear that Ashley had another baby. That is good news that she was blessed. Sorry the beach is rocky. The beaches in my mission are pretty nice. They aren’t too bad from what I have heard. There is a beach here in San Pedro and its called Cabrillo beach and it doesn’t look fun compared to San Clemente beach. So don’t go there. There are lots of good beaches here in the mission though. So, I am glad to hear that you made it safely and to hear that dad has already hit a bucket of balls. I can’t wait to do that again. Anyways, I am excited to hear about the whole trip next Monday.
Well this past week I got sick. I started feeling a little hot Monday night and then I woke up on Tuesday not feeling very well. So I started to work and at about 4 o’clock I could tell I had a fever so we went home and checked my temperature and sure enough I had a temperature of 101.3. So we stayed in the apartment. Then Wednesday I felt sick as well and began having chills really bad with my fever. It was terrible. The fever went away on Thursday and so I worked but I had a sore throat throughout the rest of the week. My tonsils were huge. Today it finally went down a little but they are big still. I just want to get my tonsils removed. It would help out a lot. Can I just do that when I get home? So that was a major part of my week. It was the first time that I have gotten sick in my mission to where I had to stay home.
We had the usual three at church yesterday, T, K and A. They are doing really well. K is really coming along very well. She has a stronger testimony now than what she had from when I first met her in April. T received the call from the immigration lawyer this week. He has a meeting with him tomorrow at 10 to show all of his documents and things to the lawyer so he can get the help from him. This is great news. We are hoping that it all comes together this week or the next and then they can all get baptized. They really need it. They are ready. T knows without a doubt that the church is true. K is just about there. She has a concern with her family relations if she joins the church. She is afraid that they will treat her differently. We think she will be baptized with the family. So they are doing really well.
Izzy didn’t come to church yesterday. He wouldn’t answer our calls or his door so we couldn’t do anything about it. We think he might be losing interest but we are trying hard to help him find a testimony. He just needs to sit down with us again and we will talk about it. He was solid and we think he still could be solid so we will see. He has a baptismal date for the 17th of this month so we are still going to shoot for that.
We found a new investigator this week. Her name is R and she is the fiancee of a member of the ward. She is getting married to him and she has come to church many times already. It has been tough to get a hold of them because they were having some family difficulties but now we think they are clear from the major difficulties right now. We taught her about the Book of Mormon on Friday and invited her to be baptized on August 28th. She said yes! She says that she feels really comfortable in the church and that everybody is super friendly. She doesn’t know too much about the church quite yet but she will learn. She is 20 years old and her fiancee is 21 years old and he is coming back into activity with the church. So we are really excited about that.
D is still lost. We haven’t spoken with him in two weeks now so we don’t know what has happened with him. Its a bummer because we really like D. We hopefully will talk to him this week…… R has been canceling appointments a lot lately and we still haven’t sat down with her for a while. We will try to contact her in a couple weeks to see if she has picked up interest. Other than that we are trying to find. Thanks for your prayers family.
Today we had an activity with 3 other zones at the Artesia building. President Baker was cooking burgers for all of us so yes it was a barbeque. It was way fun. It is always fun to see all the missionaries that you used to serve around. We played a lot of basketball. Today was a good day for me. There are some new missionaries that can play basketball really well and so today it was way fun. Missionaries were also playing football, soccer, frisbee, and volleyball. It was really a good time. I saw Elder Lee and Elder Tanner there so that was really cool as well. Elder Lee has matured a lot. It was good to see him grow since I was with him. He is a good missionary.
Anyways family, today is a weird day. We started doing preparation day stuff at 6 in the morning, then we proselyte from 2 to 6 and then we do our studies from 6-9. So I have to run and change. I love you and I hope you have a good time in San Clemente at the beach house. Dad, I am playing basketball tomorrow morning at 6:30 at the korean bell in San Pedro. See you there…. jk
Love,
Elder Kevin Jones
