Hello family. It sounds like it was a fun creative escape this year. It’s too bad I missed out. I can’t believe you had funny skits the two years that I am gone! haha. I wish I could have seen that. I just can imagine Nathan in a skirt with hairy legs and a hairy face. That would have made me laugh so hard. Same with Jose Maria Martinez being a monkey. That would of cracked me up as well. I hope you recorded it. You should send it to me somehow if that is possible. If not I can wait until I am home. I wish I were there. I am glad that it was successful for the store though mom. That is great. So Alex is getting married. Congratulations Alex. That is what he is supposed to do when he gets home. That is what the Prophet said right? The letter was a creative escape letter but I am glad to hear about it and that it went really well. So my dermatologist appointment is this w
Wednesday and like usual my face gets better right before the appointment. haha. That should be good. How is Bazzill doing right now? How are the D-backs? I heard that they are playing really well. Thanks for the letter mom. It was good.

So, I don’t know if I have much to write this week. It is hard to think of some things to write about. Well nobody came to church yesterday. That was the first time that no one has come to church since I have been here in San Pedro. The good news is that P and R got married on Saturday. Everyone there were nonmembers basically besides some members from our ward. It was crazy. Lots of people were in jeans and t-shirts and tattoos and everything. It took place in the chapel. It was pretty cool to see them. The bishop married them and talked about the church the whole time. Hopefully it turned out well for the people there and hopefully they felt the Spirit and have that desire to learn more. It was a good wedding. They had the reception right after and we heard there was a lot of alcohol there. The good news is that neither R or P drank so that shows how dedicated they are. Anyways, P has an interview with the bishop this week sometime to see if he is worthy to receive the Aaronic Priesthood. Then the baptism will be on the 10th of September. So R is doing well. This is only the 2nd baptism in the ward all year. Bishop said they usually have 7 a year so we have a lot of work on our hands…. T and K and their family are doing pretty well besides that they didn’t come to church. They had a late night Saturday night at T’s family’s house. Where everyone was drinking and T refused and held his ground this time. We were proud to hear that but they didn’t come to church because they slept in. T came to church like 3 months in a row until he missed yesterday. Oh well. They are still doing well. They are going to a Dodgers game tonight and we have Family Home Evening with them tomorrow night. So they are doing well…. We taught two siblings that are 20 and 13 this week a couple times. Their names are L and E. Hopefully they turn out good. Their family speaks Spanish but they speak English as well. We may need to refer them to the Spanish sisters that cover our area. We will see how that goes. They are pretty solid. They didn’t come to church this past Sunday because they forgot. I also don’t think they have a ride.

We as a mission are going through the fundamentals trainings again. Right now all of the new missionaries are receiving the trainings this week and last week. We had to give a training to them. We trained them on revelation through prayer specifically helping their investigators receive answers to their prayers. This is my 5th time going through these trainings. The same ones. They are good and obviously we still need to learn them but they are a little boring. I need to have a better attitude about them. So I will. They are going to be awesome!

Nothing else has happened this week. We are just working hard trying to find more people to teach. It is hard to knock doors all the time but that’s the only thing I haven’t tried in this area. I know we will find someone else to teach.

The church is true and I am so glad to be a missionary. I love being out here a lot. I am so used to this lifestyle that it would be hard for me to change it. The blessings are endless and it is a real joy to be out here serving the Lord. Thank you family for your letters and I love you. Talk to you next week.

Love,
Elder Kevin Jones
