Hello Mom and family! I am going to answer your questions real quick so I don’t forget. No, we didn’t move into the apartment where the sisters were living. They were living with a member who was single and a sister in the ward over there. She had cats in her home and one of the sisters freaked out about it and so they moved her and her companion into our apartment while we moved more north into a new apartment that the mission bought for future use. It was kind of annoying but the apartment we are in now is so much better in my opinion. The zone that I am in is called the South Bay Zone. Gardena, my old area, is in the zone. I have served in this zone before at the beginning of my mission. So I started out in South Bay then I went to Metro then Peninsula and now I am back in South Bay. I am really excited to serve this zone…. Anyway, how is everything going this week? What else is new? I think that campaign sounds awesome. I wish it were over here in LA. Mormon.org is on taxicabs in New York City? That is awesome. The church is going to see so many more people change their lives because of the mormon.org campaign. I am so excited about that. I wish it were on taxicabs here in LA and on Billboards. There are so many billboards in LA that there is plenty of room for mormon.org ads. I am pumped about that. I wish I could make a profile but our mission wants us to be home before we start making our profiles because there aren’t many people that we can relate to being missionaries. So I think that is smart. Although, there are some missionaries that made a profile. Anyway, I can’t wait to see all of your profiles… I am glad that Bazzill is picking up the marketing thing as well. That should be good for the company. I am excited to see how it is when I get back…. I am glad that Haley and Dad had fun on their trips. I am super happy that the Diamondbacks are playing really well. Maybe Arizona will get another title this year. I sure hope so. What is the deal with the NBA? Thanks for the letter mom. Thanks for the package Shreeve family!

Well, we have been working hard over here in Lawndale. We have talked with the Bishop and the old Bishop to figure out who all the members are and which families are part member families. We have been working out of the area book as well and we are finding lots of solid potential people. We also have been praying really hard to find more solid people to teach and it is beginning to pick up. We had three people come to church this Sunday but like 8 or 9 nonmembers came. The three that we are teaching is B, Sa, and W. W is a black kid that is dating one of the Samoan girls from the Samoan ward that has been investigating off and on for the last couple years. It doesn’t do him any good to go to the Samoan ward because he doesn’t understand any of it. We are trying to get him moved to the student/singles branch over here in Torrance because he would understand everything over there. He is a really cool kid. We most likely won’t be teaching him soon. S is the mother of two 14 year old twin girls that just got baptized. She is really cool. The only problem that she is having is that she is living with her boyfriend. She is really friendly and she came to church for the 2nd or 3rd time since her girls were taking the lessons. One of the girls gave a talk in sacrament meeting so she came to support her. We are hoping things pick up with her as well. The twins have a 9 year old sister and a grandmother that have been coming to church recently as well. It is great. This family is solid. We have an appointment with all of them this Saturday because it is Elder Judd’s birthday this Saturday and so they want to feed us. We are hoping that that will be a good lesson…. B is really solid as well. I think I might have talked about her last week. She is a 60-year-old black woman that is a foster mother for 2 crazy kids. She is the nicest person. She came to church yesterday and liked it a lot. She has been taught by missionaries a ton in the past and she has a baptismal date now for October 16th. She just has one problem and that is smoking. She is down to 1 cigarette a day and she has been smoking for 40 years. She is so close to quitting. She is awesome though. I am excited to see her overcome these things.

We received a phone call from a less active member in the ward to go give his daughter a blessing. His daughter had a seizure for the first time and wanted us to give her a blessing. She is 5 years old. So we gave her a blessing and got to talking to him and he was an AP in his mission and was a solid member until he lost his wife in a car accident. He has been less active for 7 years and he remarried. He is like 30 years old and he is Tongan. He is so solid. He is going to come to church this Sunday with his wife and kids. His wife may not be a member. They can’t find her records anywhere. So, we are really excited for this family. They missed church yesterday because their daughter had two more seizures and they were at the hospital. They are solid.

Anyways, family nothing else is going on. We have interviews with President Baker tomorrow. So we will see how that goes. The mission life is good. I am very happy. I will write to you next week.

Love,
Elder Kevin Jones
