Hello family! Sounds like your week was uneventful but I like hearing about those weeks. I can’t believe you broke your toe mom! haha. It sounds like it was the dumbest injury in this world. You of all people would laugh at something like that. haha. I wish I could have seen it.

I am glad that Paul had a good birthday. He got another collection item for Star Wars. One day when he is like 65 and has nothing to do he is going to go to antique shops all day long just to find star wars stuff to add to his collection. That will be his number 1 interest. haha. I am just kidding. I am glad you lentils too Paul. Interesting but a very good choice. haha.

I am happy that the lawn looks great. I will help out with that next year. I can’t believe dad has gone three weeks since playing golf. That is a surprise. Haley is basically a full time worker. That is nuts. I still can’t picture her all grown up. That is so weird. She is just living the responsible teenager life. She is a Junior right? wow. time flies. I am an old fart.

Lawndale is ghetto. It probably isn’t as ghetto as Compton but it is still ghetto. Braden is coming home? Wow time really does fly. Doug Gillette is going to Colombia? Just like his dad. That is awesome. It is cool that the Gillette twins will get to see him before he leaves.

Well we had a surprise meeting with President Baker yesterday. All of the zone leaders and 9 other missionaries from the mission met with President at 5 in the Artesia building to have a special meeting. The mission is adding two new zones! So now we will be having a total of 9 zones. Our district and zone sizes are way bigger than the normal zone size so we added 2 zones to the mission. The new zone names are the Griffeth zone and the Athens zone. All of the names are westwood zone, marina zone, central zone, South bay zone, Peninsula zone, Metro zone, Lakewood zone and now the two new ones. I am in South Bay zone right now but the funny part is that some of us had interviews with President yesterday after the meeting to let us know what is happening with us. I am being transferred. I am being dropped from a zone leader to a district leader again in the Metro zone. I will be in an area called Huntington Park South and I am SPANISH SPEAKING!!!!!!!!!!! My new companion is a Peruvian named Elder Castaneda. Huntington Park is shortened to HP here in the mission. HP is the most Spanish populated area in the mission. There basically isn’t any white people. It is heavily condensed with Latin people. There are 5 companionships in the ward that I will be serving in and all but 1 of those companionships are in my district because they are the zone leaders. So we will be having our district meetings in Spanish as well. I told President a couple times a few months ago that I wanted to go back into Spanish so I could learn it better and he just threw me in pure Spanish . I don’t think I could be more engulfed in Spanish in all of LA. I am really excited but kind of nervous at the same time. My Spanish is really really rusty. It isn’t that good. President basically told me that I would be finishing off my mission in this area. He was so excited to tell me what was happening with me. He knew that if I were to change I would want to go back to Spanish speaking. I have 3 transfers left which equals out to 4 months left. So I am excited to be engulfed. I might be able to communicate with you now Nathan. I was really surprised on all the changes. Two other zone leaders were dropped because they were needed in other places. President wants to give more missionaries the opportunity to serve in leadership positions. All 9 of those other missionaries are now zone leaders. Elder Fourr and Elder Watkins from my MTC district were there and they were made zone leaders. So its pretty crazy but I am excited. I am kind of sad that I only got to be here in Lawndale for only 1 transfer though. We were doing a lot of good work. This area is going to baptize a lot real soon. Elder Judd is staying here for his last transfer with a new zone leader so he is excited for that. We are both bummed that we won’t be working together. We got along really well. I am going to miss being a zone leader too. It was fun. It was hard but it was fun. I am going to miss English speaking as well. I don’t have to think when I teach people. Its more natural with the Spirit and not having to think about what I am saying. Hopefully I can master Spanish. My mission will be exactly half Spanish speaking and half English speaking. So I truly was a bilingual missionary. So that is my news. I will let you know the boundaries of my area next week.

So for the next couple of days we have a lot of appointments with the people I want to see anyways. So it should be a good experience. I am excited to meet with the H family and L the most. I feel like they are the ones I obtained a relationship with the most. They all came to church yesterday as well as B. It was a pretty good Sunday. The new investigators that we found missed our appointments last week so we aren’t sure about them. We will probably try them out today or tomorrow. I am sad to leave the work here. It was picking up real good. There are a lot of good people here in Lawndale. I am going to miss it.

I don’t know what else to say. I love you and I am thankful for all of the support that you give me. Have a good week and follow the Spirit.

Love,
Elder Kevin Jones
